About the event

Join the Uxbridge Historical Centre for a celebration of local author Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Lucy Maud Montgomery, prolific Canadian Author, wrote 11 of her 22 novels at home in rural Leaskdale, Ontario, north of Uxbridge. This year marks the 150th anniversary of her birth in 1874.   She is most well known for creating the beloved character Anne of Green Gables, among many others. Her personal journals tell her story, where as her poetry reflects her feelings. The Leaskdale Manse was the first home the author could call her own. In 1911, she moved to Leaskdale, a prosperous farming community, soon after marrying Ewan Macdonald.
